Pi Day

 Pi Day was March 14th.  SAIL explored many Pi activities.  Pi is an irrational number that never repeats and never ends.  

Great Falls students made pies for Pi Day.  They look yummy!

A Village student was inspired by a SAIL Curiosity Page video on building card towers.  Building a solid base and distributing the weight of the cards can lead to many levels in a tower.  

Virtual Field Trip to Ice Castles Across the World

 SAIL took a virtual field trip to ice castles from around the world.  We stopped in China,  Alberta,  Finland, Colorado, and New Hampshire.  Did you know there is such a thing as ice farming?   It was freeze-tastic!

     

SAILING INTO 2021

In honor of  Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday, students shared words to describe this great man.  Enjoy their Word Art. 

We enjoyed an introduction to karate with Sensei Maria from Fournier Karate during one of our Friday classes.    Here's a picture of her on our screen.  It was so fun!

Our Fascinating Fridays have been EGG-ceptional!  A student conducted a Bouncy Egg Experiment at home that she learned in class.

A COLLABORATIVE PROJECT

SAIL teamed up with ELL and Alt. Ed for a Family Traditions Project.  Some of our SAIL friends on their remote class day shared in this in-person class.  We read The Name Jar written by Yangsook Choi. 

SAIL Students Striving for Success

Here are some highlights of our SAIL students' work.  

A Great Falls student shares her final project about the government.

A Great Falls student completed the Bryony's Triangle math challenge to find the fraction of the tiniest triangle.  

"Once there was a snake who lived with his snake family and he was the hero of the woods! He protected the mice and squirrels from the other snakes who wanted to eat them. One day he had a fall from grace and started eating all the mice and squirrels. The next day he redeemed himself. He found a stash of peanuts and kept them all for himself. Then he realized that all the hungry mice and squirrels needed them so he shared the nuts with everyone."

- A Village student used the theme, Fall from Grace, to enrich his main character while writing his narrative.

IDIOMS

Last night the rain was wild! My window was getting smacked by rain, and it was very loud. It was raining dogs and cats!

Jack was going bananas over his homework.

My mom bought me a phone, so now I have to rob peter to pay paul back.

Lola told a secret I am mad she spilled the beans

I bit off way more than I could chew with that double backflip into the pool and it was soooo humiliating

Origami on Fascinating Friday

 

Did you know that paper is not just for writing and coloring?  Paper can be folded to create dimensional objects.  This week during our Fascinating Friday, on Tuesday due to Election Day, we made a pumpkin out of origami.  Our next Fascinating Friday activity will be on November 20th.  We hope to see you there.
